As the days shorten, and the nights cool, Shane Confectionery is heating up their now annual haunting event. Consumed: Tales from the Candy Crypt will guide visitors through America’s oldest continuously operated confectionery, meeting tormented villains, and trick-or-treating for medicinal and magical candy cures. Built in mid 19th century, Shane Confectionery is perfectly poised to present the characters and confections made famous during the Victorian Era. Over the course of their 45 minute journey, visitors will be led through Shane Confectionery’s shop and kitchens, encountering infamous 19th century authors, characters, and monsters. There they will learn about the often blurred interpretation of natural and supernatural afflictions, and the ways humans have sweetened their cures. Guests will walk away with a bounty of delicious candy, from a Dark and Stormy Bon-Bon to an unsettling dose of Hair of the Dog.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at their shop in Old City, over the phone, or online. Consumed will run the final two Fridays and Saturdays of October, the 20th-28th at 6:30p, 7:30p, and 8:30p. Space will be limited; purchasing in advance is encouraged.
