Obviously, Philadelphia is experiencing a severe winter, and winter damages roads. While pothole season typically begins in March, Streets Department crews are actively repairing street defects citywide. More than 500 potholes have already been identified (crews filled about 11,000 potholes in 2013).
If residents can provide the Streets Department with details like exact location, size and whether the hole is in a traffic lane or a parking lane, that will help repair crews. To report a street defect, residents may contact:
- Streets Department Customer Service at (215) 686-5560
- Call 311/Mobile App: Philly 311
Citizens can contact PennDOT directly at their maintenance hotline at 1-800-FIX-ROAD (349-7623) for defects on State routes. Road defects within SEPTA’s right-of-way (in the area between trolley tracks and within 18 inches on either side) can be reported to SEPTA’s Customer Service at (215) 580-7852 or online at http://www.septa.org.
