Philadelphia, PA (June 6, 2012) Kick off Independence Day festivities at Independence Seaport Museum at the Fireworks Spectacular Celebrationon Saturday, June 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Seaport Museum will host an evening of food, fun and libations for the whole family, capped off with a breathtaking view of the fireworks display over the Delaware River. This popular annual event raises money for the Museum’s education and preservation programs.
The event features a 4th of July picnic theme, and there will be face painting and balloon twisting in our Education Center to keep the little one entertained. Also, Joe Tumolo Jazz Group, a jazz quartet, will entertain guests throughout the evening. Tickets are $75 for Adults, $55 for Seaport Museum members, $25 for children under 12 and children under two are free. Independence Seaport Museum maintains one of the largest maritime collections in North America, combining more than 25,000 artifacts with hands-on exhibits and large-scale ship models. In addition, the Museum has a traditional wooden boat shop, the J. Welles Henderson Archives and Library and a 530-seat concert hall with sound stage quality acoustics. The Museum also includes two National Historic Landmark ships—the Spanish-American War Cruiser, Olympia, and the World War II Submarine Becuna.
