The Holiday Season wouldn’t be complete without the wonderful aromas that come out of the kitchen at this time of year.
The Museum at Elfreth’s Alley is proud to present Jessica and Jeremy Nolen signing copies of their book, German Cooking Now on Thursday November 30th from 5-8pm.
There will be books available for purchase as well as pretzels and mulled wine to sample.
Bright flavors. Fresh and healthful. These are not words we typically associate with German cuisine. German Cooking Now celebrates fresh vegetables, grains, herbs, and spices as obsessively as it does pork, pretzels, and beer. Chefs Jeremy and Jessica Nolen share recipes from their family table, inspired by their travels in Germany. Slow-braised meats, homemade pickles and preserves, hand-cut noodles, and vegetables every which way—the recipes in German Cooking Now are entirely true to their roots, yet utterly unique.

This event is a festive and tasty compliment to Elfreth’s Alley holiday pop up exhibit, Making Christmas: German Immigrants Shape an American Holiday. This pop up exhibit details how a variety of traditions we take for granted today - such as Christmas Tree and Santa Claus, have German origins and were brought here by immigrants and became part of American culture.
This event is included in the $5 admission to the exhibit.
