As historian Dr. Gregory J.W. Urwin observed, “Sometimes freedom wore a red coat.” What were some of the ways enslaved people of African descent fought for and found freedom? For free people of African descent, what decisions were in their best interest? Learn about an exciting digital interactive project and online resource, to be launched online in September 2020, from the Museum’s Associate Curator Matthew Skic.


Our History After Hours series offers extended evening hours from 5 – 8 p.m., special themed programs, happy hour food and drink specials, games and trivia, and full access to the Museum’s exhibits including timed screenings of Washington's War Tent.
