PHOTOGRAPHER TO HOLD CAREER RETROSPECTIVE AT
OLD CITY JEWISH ARTS CENTER
Scott Weiner’s Exhibition Celebrates More than 40 Years of
(Philadelphia) – For more than 40 years, when an actor,musician, or celebrity has passed through Philadelphia, odds are that Scott Weiner has photographed them. From Aerosmith to Warren Zevon, and everyone in between, including Elton John, Jay Z, Sylvester Stallone, Taylor Swift, and Stevie Wonder, Weiner has taken their photo.
A retrospective of his work will be on display beginning Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 30, at the Old City Jewish ArtsCenter (ocjac.org), 119 N. 3rd Street, Philadelphia. The exhibition opens at 5 p.m. with a reception. Guests are invited to a Shabbat dinner that begins at 9 p.m. following the reception.
As part of the retrospective activities, Weiner will hold a photography workshop for emerging photographers on Wednesday, June 26, at 6 p.m. (Registration details below.)
Weiner began his four-decade career following his graduation from Temple University in May 1976. His work has been published in hundreds of books, magazines, newspapers, and websites. He was the photographer for Newsweek magazine for Live Aid and was the staff photographer for the Live 8 concert. His work has appeared on numerous CD and album covers and was recently featured in the Beastie Boys Story show.
The retrospective includes all facets of his work, including never-before-seen photos of musicians in concert and in intimate portraits and candid settings; celebrities and politicians; images from a 2012 visit to Israel; 3-D photographs; and travel photography. More than 70 photographs will be on display.
The Old City Arts Center explores Judaism through the arts.
