First Friday Returns to The Gas Lamp Hotel this October
Building on the success of last month’s incredibly successful First Friday event, which attracted more than 200 guests, The Gas Lamp Hotel, located at 140 North 2nd Street in Old City, will host its next First Friday event on October 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The centerpiece of the experience is the Two Street Club, a curated gallery space featuring works from local artists. Guests can also swing through Newton's Cellar speakeasy for a specialty cocktail, or hangout with friends in the property’s open-air courtyard. This month, guests will enjoy a variety of The Hart of Catering’s inventive soft pretzel hoagies and batched craft cocktails from Dad’s Hat Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey. Whether you’re coming to check out the art, sample the deliciousness, or mingle with old and new friends, the newly restored historic boutique is quickly becoming a serious hotspot in Old City’s reinvigorated First Friday revelry.
Guests can also tour the Gas Lamp’s beautifully designed hotel rooms, which are works of art in their own right, and see firsthand why the Gas Lamp was recently honored with Philadelphia magazine’s “Best of Philly” award in the hotel category! The innovative boutique hotel occupies a historic row home dating back to 1845. It was the first private residence in the U.S. to be illuminated by gas flame, and each of the five uniquely decorated guest rooms is named after a pioneer in the lighting industry.
Admission is free, and drinks and bites will be available for purchase. Reservations are encouraged, and can be made online.
