Black Founders Documentary Screening & Reception

On Friday, June 16, be among the first to see the new 26-minute film “Black Founders: The Forten Family of Philadelphia,” presented by WHYY and the Museum of the American Revolution. Following the screening in Lenfest Myer Theater on the first floor, a question-and-answer session will take guests behind the scenes of the creation of the film and the Museum’s Black Founders exhibit.

Prior to the screening, guests will enjoy a wine and cheese reception and have the opportunity to view the Museum’s Black Founders special exhibition, which tells the inspiring story of free Black Philadelphian James Forten and his remarkable family, from the Revolutionary era through the Civil War and Reconstruction. The exhibition brings together more than 100 historical artifacts, including Forten family heirlooms on view for the first time. Tickets for this event include Black Founders exhibit access.
