Crystal Latimer: FINE HOUSE
Paradigm Gallery + Studio is pleased to present FINE HOUSE, a solo exhibition of new works by painter Crystal Latimer. FINE HOUSE is an expansion of Latimer’s 2020 solo exhibition with Paradigm, KEEPSAKES, in which Latimer used colorful tapestries depicting affirmations of strength to ask the viewer to find their own inner power. In FINE HOUSE, Latimer instead brings those affirmations into the physical space by delving into home furnishings. The exhibition features eight tapestry pieces depicting masculine imagery, like bears in battle, and reinterprets them as feminine by using acrylics, gold leaf, pastel crayon, and cotton fiber tassels. Latimer chose to work with local creative businesses, Tuft the World and Butterfield Editions, to create three collaborative pieces. Rugs produced by Tuft the World, and wallpaper printed in-house by Butterfield Editions at the Paradigm Arts Building will be the first instances of Crystal Latimer’s work crossing over into other creative disciplines. FINE HOUSE will be on view on the first floor of the Paradigm Arts Building (12 N 3rd St) from July 7 through July 30, 2023 with a public opening reception on Friday, July 7 from 6:00-8:00pm.
