28" AND UNDER / MEMBERS' EXHIBITION

Muse Gallery celebrates its 45th anniversary with an exhibition showing one work from each of its 22 members. The exhibition title, 28” and Under, refers to the maximum width permitted for each member’s contribution, a determination reflective of a long history concerning how best to arrange visual art for public viewing.
As a result, given that Scale - the size of an artwork relative to our human size - has played a major role in creating an impactful experience for the contemporary viewer, the problem for Muse artists, particularly those working within a contemporary vocabulary, was how to lend power to the voice of a moderate sized artwork.
