Show includes images with four different visual approaches in four decades with the Ben Franklin Bridge as subject 1982-2023
An exhibition of photographs in Cherry Street Pier terrace hall by James B Abbott depicting the Ben Franklin Bridge and its urban landscape from four decades. Beginning in the 1980’s when the neighborhood around the bridge underwent radical transformation.This section would also include a small series of photographs Abbott printed from the archives of the Delaware River Port Authority.In addition three reproductions of the Paul Cret renderings of the anchorage, and several engineers drawings from the Delaware River Bridge final report.
A second project is from Abbott’s series of interiors of the seldom seen anchorage interior taken in 2000.
Following the color work in 2001 he worked with b&w large format photos taking several shots and assembling them into a single view.
As a artist in residence at the Cherry Street Pier 2018-2023 he returned to the river front working in color on both sides of the Delaware river.
