Dinner and Film Screening “Ascension" - November 10
FRIEDAcommunity - Dinner & Film - Ascension - November 10An Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary Feature, Jessica Kingdon's "Ascensioin" explores the paradoxical pursuit of wealth and progress in China. Loosely structured around the distinct social and economic classes that divide the nation, the film follows factory workers, middle class consumers and elites as they chase the elusive "Chinese Dream.”“An enthralling documentary that spellbindingly heads into myriad corners of China’s increasingly stratified economic classes… Everything we use every day is the product of someone else’s labor. Cellphones and computers, water bottles and plastic cutlery, soap dispensers and blankets are all items in one gigantic interconnected chain of global capitalism that the documentary Ascension explores with curiosity, candor and criticism.” - LA TimesAscension by Jessica KingdonGenre: DocumentaryRelease date: 2021Language: Mandarin Chinese (English Subtitles)Running time: 1h 39mMenu___Roasted Faroe Island salmon filet w/ green goddess dressingMashed potatoes & seasonal vegetables___Bread pudding w/ butterscotch sauce___*A GF vegan option of apricot & chickpea vegetable tagine is available, please inquire at time of reservation.(This is a BYOB event).Date: Tuesday, November 10, 2026Arrival and Seating: 5:30 pmFilm screening: 5:45 pmDinner: 7:15 pmLocation: at FRIEDA, 320 Walnut StreetPrices:Film & Dinner Member: $40 (gratuity and tax included)Film & Dinner Guests: $50 (gratuity and tax included)Film & Dinner Guests "30 or under": $20 (gratuity and tax included)Prices include 20% gratuity. This event is BYOBBy reservation only. Please sign up at least 2 days prior to the event.*Cancellation policy: We are unable to issue refunds.
