Extended Constellations: Carrie Mae Weems, Sama Alshaibi, and Lali Khalid at Twelve Gates Arts
Twelve Gates Arts is thrilled to present Extended Constellations, curated by Zehra Zehra, featuring Sama Alshaibi, Lali Khalid, and Carrie Mae Weems.
Three artists from markedly different geographies and histories, one shared sky. Through photography and video, their work treats the female body as a site of endurance, with landscape, ritual, and tenderness as quiet defiance.
Join us for the opening reception on Friday, October 30 from 6 to 8 PM. Lali Khalid will sign her newly released monograph, Letters to Azan, at the opening.
The night before, we’ll be at Public Trust (4017 Walnut St) on October 29 from 6 to 8 PM for Landscapes of Memory, a conversation between Sama Alshaibi, Maori Holmes, and Lali Khalid, moderated by Zehra Zehra and preceded by a screening of the films featured in the show.
