Ella Kolanowska, Polish-born mixed media Artist.
Through search and, in a sense, elimination in her creative process she focused on the single touches of the brush. Through multiplications of those little spots, she tries to capture the inner vibration, and state of mind.
Other threads are also woven into her work. Fascination with the Japanese tradition of mending has become a big inspiration and an important part of her recent work. This has led to the use of other media and techniques, such as crocheted pieces, fabrics, and yarns that she stitched by hand to the painting. Referring to the repairing is an important element to her process.
Working with color is probably the most important part not only of her art but of her whole life. It is a very alive relationship, that changes upon the circumstances she goes through. Color choices are very intuitive. Color for her is not only a decorative element; it plays a big role in human perception. It's mainly energy that constantly impacts surroundings and viewers.
