First Oval Office Project at the Revolutionary Germantown Festival
Join the Museum at Cliveden on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., for the Revolutionary Germantown Festival where we will set up our First Oval Office Project, a handsewn, full-scale replica of General George Washington's sleeping marquee that served as his mobile headquarters while on campaign. Navigate the encampment, explore the tents, and meet costumed living history interpreters portraying the people who would have been there. Washington's original sleeping and office tent from the Revolutionary War is on permanent display at the Museum of the American Revolution in historic Philadelphia.
The Revolutionary Germantown Festival returns as Cliveden and the sites of Historic Germantown collaborate to highlight the diverse stories of the people who lived through the American Revolution and the Battle of Germantown, on Oct. 4, 1777. Along with our First Oval Office Project, the festival will also include special talks and programs with authors, living history interpreters, and tours and family-friendly activities at Cliveden and participating sites in Historic Germantown. The festival is free and open to all.
