Intro Guide to Genealogy

“Navigating Hidden Archives” invites participants to look beyond traditional records and discover the rich, often overlooked sources that bring family histories to life. This workshop explores how everyday materials—such as church programs, school records, personal photographs, scrapbooks, letters, and family heirlooms—can serve as powerful historical documents. Participants will learn how to interpret these materials, uncover hidden narratives, and piece together stories that may not appear in official archives. By expanding the definition of what counts as a historical record, this session empowers participants to find meaning in personal collections and to recognize the historical value embedded within their own homes and communities.
