Sweet Then Sour: Our continued search for a better sugar

Join confectionery historian Laurel Burmeister, and Senior Pastry Assistant Rose Kyler, in exploring humans time honored quest for a better sugar. Honey, maple syrup, beet sugar, cane sugar, sucralose, aspartame, saccarine, sorbitol, stevia, monk fruit — Will we ever agree upon an ideal sweetener?

Guests will enjoy a hands on talk learning about the history and chemistry behind popular sweeteners. They will be able to test their ability to tell one from another, and they will be able to see and taste the difference when used to bake sugar cookies.
