Tuesday Nite Music Club w/ Taylor Kelly
Join us each week as our monthly resident artist/group plays an early set, and then the club hosts a listening session with an iconic classic LP or new release on the later side. Our October artist is Taylor Kelly, performing in intimate configurations with some of her favorite musical collaborators in Philadelphia.
Born and raised in Rochester, NY and now a fixture of the Philadelphia music scene, Taylor Kelly embodies a deeply personal sound rooted in jazz, soul, and funk. She combines her smooth, powerful, technically-informed voice with addictive hip hop and electronic beats and complex arrangements. Inspired by artists like Erykah Badu and Emily King, her sound is a dynamic blend of several genres but ultimately establishes a strikingly authentic niche all its own - rich with melodic contour, intricate harmonies, and deeply personal but anthemic lyricism.
Kelly has released six albums and EPs and has shared the stage with St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Dirty Loops, Moonchild, Becca Stevens, Monophonics, Neal Francis and more. Named a “Music Artist You Should Know” by Grimy Goods, her work has been featured on NPR Music, WXPN and Vocalo Radio. Declared by LeFutureWave as a “musical spectacle” and Earmilk applauding her “gripping performance”, Kelly’s latest EP ‘The Spins’ marks her most fully realized release to date - an empowering and raw statement of self-expression that comes alive both on record and on stage. Kelly has uplifted, inspired and energized thousands of ardent concertgoers at hundreds of live shows with her immersively freeing performance style. She has an unyielding, marrow-deep commitment to self-expression through music and has continued to transfer this passion to her listeners with ‘The Spins'.
After Taylor’s performance each Tuesday in October, we’ll spin a classic album in its entirety, chosen by Taylor herself.
